Who We Are
Royal School Tema (formerly Tema Royal School) is a leading private, non-profit day and boarding school in Ghana, dedicated to providing quality education with a strong foundation in academic excellence, African heritage, and entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1977 by Mama Adokuwa Asigble IV, the Queen Mother of Tefle Traditional Area, our school has grown from a small nursery unit into a prestigious institution producing some of Ghana’s brightest minds—doctors, lawyers, educators, and professionals across various industries.

Our Story
Royal School Tema was established by Mama Adokuwa Asigble IV on July 4, 1977, from her residence in Community 7, Tema, with the dedicated support of her husband, Mr. H.K. Anochie, and her mother, Janet Ame Dugbazah.
As a former Manager of Datus School Complex, Mama Adokuwa envisioned a school that would not only focus on academic success but also provide a holistic education—developing students’ critical thinking, creativity, leadership skills, and cultural identity.
Despite early challenges, including the sudden passing of her mother, Mama Adokuwa persevered. By 1978, she established the first wooden school structure, which later expanded into a brick-and-mortar institution with a fully equipped Junior High School (JHS) in 1988.
Her legacy of excellence continues, and since 2010, Harry K. Anokye Jnr. has carried forward her vision, ensuring that Royal School Tema remains a pillar of educational excellence.
