Royal School Tema was established on July 4, 1997, by Mama Adokuwa-Asigble IV. Her vision was born out of the challenges she faced while working at Datus, motivating her to create a school that provided quality, student-centered education.

The school began modestly in her home at Community 7, House No. T.2, with just three pupils in a nursery class. With the strong support of her husband, Mr. H. K. Anochie, and her mother, Madam Janet Ame Dugbazah, the school began to grow steadily. In 1978, Mama Adokuwa and her husband constructed a wooden structure on a new plot to expand the school to include nursery, preparatory, and later junior secondary classes.

The school’s crest was designed by Mr. Anochie and symbolizes care, protection, and growth—core values of the institution.

The original school uniform—a light green top with a deep green bottom—was selected by Mama herself. The compound’s trees, which provide a serene learning environment today, were brought from Tefle and planted by her husband.

By 1987, enrollment had grown to over 500 pupils. Between 1988 and 1992, permanent classroom blocks were constructed, and Junior Secondary School (JSS) classes were introduced. Over the years, the school has added new facilities including a workshop, computer lab, and library.

All these developments were made possible through the personal investment and dedication of Mama Adokuwa. Her leadership and resourcefulness have earned the school a strong academic reputation, with consistent success in national examinations such as the Common Entrance, Middle School Leaving Certificate, and BECE.

Today, Royal School Tema is a fully registered Grade A institution under the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana National Association of Private Schools.
